The 60-second version
- Base town is Santa Elena; "Monteverde" is the district and the famous reserve up the road.
- The classic Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve runs roughly 7:00–16:00 — buy trail tickets online ahead at the official site.
- Drive from San José: ~133 km, 3.5–4 hours via Routes 27 → 1 → 606 — and Route 606 is fully paved to Santa Elena, the gravel-horror stories are outdated.
